Course Modality and General Expectations

In Canvas, you will access online lessons, course materials, and resources. Dropping and Adding

You are responsible for understanding the policies and procedures about add/drops, academic renewal, etc. found in the CSU Chico University Catalog.  You should be aware of the new deadlines and penalties for adding and dropping classes.

Academic Advising

Chico State utilizes a dual advising system to help you graduate on time! Undergraduate students are provided support through the Academic Advising Programs office as well as a major department advisor. Academic Advisors help answer questions regarding GE, campus policies and procedures, and general University questions. Your major department advisor can help with questions regarding major coursework, internships, and course substitutions.

Academic Integrity

Students are expected to be familiar with the University’s Academic Integrity Policy. Your own commitment to learning, as evidenced by your enrollment at California State University, Chico, and the University’s Academic Integrity Policy requires you to be honest in all your academic course work. Faculty members are required to report all infractions to the Office of Student Judicial Affairs. Career Center

The Chico State Career Center works to support and empower students to be active participants in their career development process. Career Advisors provide comprehensive resources and advising that are holistically centered in each students needs. Services include: career and internship advising, help with major selection, career assessments, on-campus interviews, seminars, mock interviews, career fairs, Handshake job database (part-time, internshops, and career positions), resume and cover letter reviews, grad school search and application assistance, and alumni services.

The Center for Technology Equity ensures that every member of the campus community has equitable access to the digital tools and resources necessary for thriving in today's interconnected world. OneSearch searches across multiple databases and journals to return broad results on research topics. Course Reserves
When faculty make a book or other item available for a class assignment, they sometimes put these items on reserve, making it available to the entire class for short checkout periods. You can search available course reserves here.

The Meriam Library Innovation Lab on the 2nd Floor contains the Makerspace and the technology lending library.

Student Learning Center (SLC)

SLC houses several academic support services: the Writing Center, drop-in math tutoring in the Math Learning Lab, subject tutoring by appointment, Study Skills Workshops, and Supplemental Instruction.

The Writing Center provides free, one-on-one writing tutoring to enrolled Chico State students of all levels and abilities. Even advanced writers can benefit from seeing a writing tutor. Whether you’re brainstorming, writing, revising, or making sure your writing flows, the Writing Center would love to support you. You don’t even have a draft? The Writing Center will be right there with you to help you write one!

The Math Learning Lab provides drop-in math tutoring and is conveniently located on the 4th floor of the library.

The Supplemental Instruction Program (SI) is a peer-led academic assistance program that helps students succeed in specific course sections. Study sessions are led by trained SI Leaders who have mastered the course content. Students can voluntarily attend these SI sessions to increase their understanding of topics and materials from the courses, and improve their grades!

WellCat: Wildcat Wellness

Chico State has several wellness resources to support your physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. Below are just a few examples: 

  • WellCat Counseling Center - Supports Chico State students with their mental health needs. Offers crisis services, individual counseling in-person and via Zoom, and group counseling in-person.
  • WellCat Health Center - Quality outpatient medical care for acute and sub-acute illnesses, injuries, and basic mental health concerns. Pharmacy offers heavily discounted prescription and over-the-counter medications.
  • Basic Needs Project - Services to address food and housing insecurity, including pantry with food and hygiene items, rapid re-housing and emergency housing assistance, CalFresh application support, and financial wellness and literacy programs.
  • CatsConnect - Your ticket to student involvement. It features over 150 student organizations, competitive Sport Clubs, Associated Students Programs, Housing programs, Greek Life and other University Programs.

We acknowledge and are mindful that Chico State stands on lands that were originally occupied by the first people of this area, the Mechoopda, and we recognize their distinctive spiritual relationship with this land, the flora, the fauna, and the waters that run through campus.
